Sunday, October 8 - RACE DAY

NO RACE DAY REGISTRATION

We keep a very tight schedule on race day to ensure our event starts and finishes on time, per our agreement with the Oregon Department of Transportation and other permitting organizations. We ask that you familiarize yourself with the following schedule and ARRIVE ON TIME. You risk missing the race if you arrive too late on race day.

Schedule is subject to change leading up to the event day

6 to 7 a.m. - Packet Pick-Up  (You will be charged $20 if you pick-up your packet on race day)

Last minute packets/bibs are available near the finish line / shuttle bus loading at Basin Street (Oregon). If you did not sign-up for this packet pick-up time slot at registration, please only use this option as a last resort.  There is no participant parking at this location, so you must walk-in from nearby parking / be dropped off at Columbia Avenue (near Holiday Inn Express).
Reminder: someone else in your party can pick up your bib for you if they are able to attend earlier packet pick up and you are not.

No drop off at Basin or Hamburg Streets. Packets/bibs are NOT available at the Port of Chinook (Washington) or any other shuttle site. Information regarding packet pick-up will be sent to registered participants. We strongly encourage participants to utilize one of these other options, instead of waiting until race day to pick-up their packet.

6:30 a.m. - Shuttle from Astoria, Oregon  (Four locations)

All participants taking the shuttle from any site in Astoria (Oregon) MUST be in line for the shuttle by 7:00 a.m. Plan to arrive early! Participants who arrive after 7:00 a.m. are NOT guaranteed a spot on the shuttle bus and are NOT guaranteed to make the start of the race. There is NO drop off of race participants at the starting line. Everyone must use the shuttle.

Strollers will be accommodated on all shuttles, but you must be able to collapse it to fit in the seat next to you. If you have an oversized stroller, please make your way to the Basin Street Shuttle Stop to use the cargo hauler shuttle that leaves at 7 and 7:30 a.m.

Handicap accessible (ADA lift) shuttles will operate from the Basin Street Shuttle Stop only at two specific times: 7:10 and 7:40 a.m.

See more details on shuttle and parking options on this dedicated page.

7:00 a.m. - Shuttle from Port of Chinook, Washington

Port of Chinook shuttle buses load from the parking lot off of Water Street. All participants using the shuttle from the Port of Chinook MUST be in line for the shuttle by 7:30 a.m. Plan to arrive early! Participants who arrive after 7:30 a.m. are NOT guaranteed a spot on the shuttle bus and are NOT guaranteed to make the start of the race.  Packets/bibs are not available at the Port of Chinook on race morning. 8:10 a.m. - Gear Check Closes (Gear Check Truck Leaves Starting Line @ 8:15 a.m.)

When you arrive at the starting line, you can find the “Gear Check” truck located at the far end (east) of the Dismal Nitch Rest Area, past the portable restrooms. Look for the "Gear Check" sign! You can put your sweatshirts, jackets and any other loose items you don't want to carry during the race in a plastic sack labeled with your unique bib number. Gear check team will provide the sack as part of our security protocol. We will shuttle the sacks across the river, and they will be available for pick-up next to the water tables near the finish line.
Be aware: late shuttles may arrive after the gear check truck has closed and left the starting area.

8:30 to 11 a.m. - Astoria-Megler Bridge & HWY 401 Closed

The Astoria-Megler Bridge will be closed to ALL vehicle traffic during this 2.5-hour window. Both lanes of the bridge will be used by participants to walk/run across the bridge. The bridge will reopen promptly at 11 a.m.

Washington Highway 401 will be closed during the start of the race while participants get from starting area to the bridge.

8:45 a.m. - RACE START!

Competitive runners start first, then all other participants.  If you are walking, do not line-up at the front of the pack - let the runners start first.

10:45 a.m. - Sweeper Bus Picks Up

In order to reopen the bridge on time at 11 a.m., the Sweeper Bus will pick up any participants who are still on the bridge at 10:45 a.m. Anyone picked-up by the Sweeper Bus will be dropped off at the foot of the bridge to continue the race course to the finish line.
