Spirit of the Columbia Photo Contest

Grab your camera or sort through your albums for your favorite photos of the Astoria-Warrenton area and enter them into the Spirit of the Columbia Photo Contest this spring. Photographers of every skill level are encouraged to participate.

“We’d love to see a range of photos capturing people enjoying our region as well as both our architectural and natural beauty,” said Regina Willkie, Marketing Manager for the Astoria-Warrenton Chamber of Commerce. “This call for photography is being held to grow and diversify the Chamber’s collection of high resolution photographs to help with our marketing efforts.”

Photographs will be accepted through Friday, May 29, 2009. Entries will be judged by the photography committee and prizes will be awarded to the top three photographs that best reflect our area and that are mindful of our marketing message. Top selections will be put on display as a part of the downtown Astoria “Arts Night Out” June 13 where the public will be invited to vote for their favorite entries to award a “people’s choice” prize. Top prize will be $100, 2nd place – $75, 3rd place and people’s choice – $50 each.

This contest is being orchestrated by volunteers of the Chamber’s Lower Columbia Tourism Committee. A list of desired photo subjects or categories is available on the website. All entries that are submitted to the contest will become the property of the Chamber and may be used in their press kit, website, advertising, printed brochures, flyers, etc. For more information, contact Regina Willkie at (503) 325-6311 or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). Dining (photos of establishments interior & exterior, closeups of food)
Community Events (Holidays, Festivals)

Contest Rules
1. There is no cost to enter.
2. The contest will run from Monday, April 13, to Friday, May 29, 2009.
3. A completed, signed and dated contest entry form must accompany each entry.
4. Photos must be submitted on CD. Photographers may enter more than one image, all photos on one CD. Photos should be a minimum of 300 dpi. Entries can be color or black & white.
5. Photos must be taken in the Astoria-Warrenton, Oregon area.
6. Each photograph that includes identifiable people must be accompanied by a separate, signed release from EACH identifiable person in the photo
7. The Astoria Warrenton Chamber of Commerce is not responsible for late, lost, damaged, destroyed or misdirected entries, or for miscommunications, misdirected transmissions or other errors of any kind whether human, mechanical or electronic.
8. All entries become the exclusive property the Astoria-Warrenton Chamber of Commerce, which retain the rights to unlimited use of entrant names and photos for, but not limited to, publicity, promotions and advertising purposes, without any compensation or photo credits to the photographer or subjects.
9. Prizes will be awarded only to entries that the contest judges deem worthy. Some prizes may not be awarded if no acceptable entries are received. All decisions are final.
10. Any taxes or additional expenses associated with the awarded prizes are the responsibility of the winners.
11. This contest is void wherever restricted or prohibited by state or local laws.
12. By entering, participants release and hold harmless Astoria-Warrenton Chamber of Commerce, as well as any directors, officers, employees or volunteers of the organization from any and all liability for any injuries, loss or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with the contest.
13. If for any reason the contest is not capable of being conducted as planned, the Astoria-Warrenton Chamber of Commerce reserves the right, in their sole discretion, to cancel, modify, suspend or terminate the contest without notice to the entrants.
