Goonies Never Say Die
The Goonies is a favorite movie from the 80s and many of its scenes were filmed in and around Astoria. We see many fans of the film visiting our community each week, some making the journey just to see the “goondocks” themselves and others adding it on to a trip to the Northwest or Astoria.

Bring the Goonies Jeep Home to Astoria
At the celebration of the 25th Anniversary of The Goonies in Astoria in June 2010, film fan Damon Crowe brought with him his replica of the Jeep Cherokee driven by the Fratellis in the film. The Jeep was spotted all over town and was included in the opening ceremony, reenacting the jail break scene. Crowe was able to get several cast members to sign the Jeep and put thoughtful detail into recreating the Jeep, down to the bullet holes and license plate. When he realized he would need to find a new home for Jeep, he turned first to the community of Astoria to find it a home where other Goonies fans could enjoy it. The Astoria-Warrenton Chamber and the Clatsop County Historical Society are working together to purchase the Jeep, and have it moved from Southern California to Astoria. If you would like to be a part of this project, your donations are greatly appreciated. The funds raised will go toward the initial cost of the Jeep and the move (about $3500) and a fund will be set up with the Historical Society to keep the Jeep maintained and securely housed. The Jeep will be on display in front of the Oregon Film Museum (housed in the “Goonies Jail”) on nice weather days and possibly driven in parades around the region. We are working out a plan to make the Jeep accessible to fans, but to also keep it out of the weather and temptation for vandalism.
