Astoria Festival of Music

Astoria Festival of Music

The Astoria Festival of Music at the Liberty Theater is Oregon’s summer music festival that features operatic, symphonic, and chamber music performances at the historic Liberty Theater. Praised by The Oregonian as one of Oregon’s “Winning Coastal Fests,” the annual festival presents professional performances of historic and contemporary masterpieces for both lovers of fine instrumental music and opera fans alike. The 2007 Fifth Anniversary Summer Celebration is from Thursday, July 5th, through Sunday, July 15th. The Festival’s internationally renowned founding Artistic Directors, Keith Clark and Ruth Dobson, have planned an exciting summer event. Highlights include performances by the Siberian Chamber Orchestra and the Astoria Festival Chamber Players; Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5; Bizet’s opera Carmen; and the ever-popular “Return of the Sopranos!” Virtuoso violinist, Elizabeth Pitcairn, will be this season’s guest concertmaster with her 1720 Stradivarius violin, performing Corigliano’s The Red Violin...on the violin that inspired the 1999 Academy Award winning film.
