We will begin at Skamokawa Center matching the paddler to the kayak in our fleet that best suites them. We will motor to the Cathlamet area to launch the kayaks. As we paddle, we will pass the Cathlamet waterfront, the traditional look of which was featured in the motion picture “Snow Falling on Cedars”. An upriver tide will take us along the steep cliffs formed by Miocene lava flows. This area, reminiscent of the Columbia River Gorge Scenic Area, has three 90-foot waterfalls. During spring and early summer the cliffs are blooming with many beautiful wildflowers. See active nests of Osprey along a route that appears much as Lewis and Clark saw it in 1805.We will cross Cathlamet Channel to Puget Island, where we will take Birnie Slough past the homes and farms of Puget Island back to our starting point.

Advance reservations are required. For information contact Carla at 360-795-8300 or email info@skamokawakayak.com
